The proposal for the first of its kind Society in Golf and Footballing circles!
The dream is to one day have a Bag tag which says ''Leeds United Golf Society'' !A society bringing all lovers of our great club and Golf together on the fairways, where men, women and children will be invited to join
Please note, this is all hypothetical at the moment, and an idea, but nothing is telling us it won't become a reality before the Golf Season starts in 3-4 months!
- We plan to hold events at local golf courses, something those who are behind this incentive are very skilled and experienced in.
- It is also our aim to work with all the local Golf Courses in the area to bring Members great deals.
- The Website we would develop would bring all of this together, including promoting and supporting the already established Leeds United Golf Day which many of you will already support.
- Leeds United already have a fantastic range of Golf equipment they retail, which many of us proudly display down the fairways, this would be available for purchase on the website, along with Society logo'd gear.
- We are proposing Adult membership is £15 with everyone receiving golf goodies and a certificate signed by one or 2 famous folk you will know.
- There will be a Charity backbone to this as explained below, and a suggestion is we will hold a charity auction annually in the Pavilion, one of several things that will raise funds for good causes.
We have had hefty backing from some very famous names, one who will be revealed as the Ambassador, and proposed Chairman of the committee, and EVERY Leeds fan knows him.
The emphasis on any Golf Society that is created will be on Charity. It would make sense, and was suggested that we would raise funds for the Leeds United Foundation
We will list a few of these famous names you all know who have put their weight behind this already in another post, but it's staggering what a family we have in the 'golf and Leeds United World'
You can imagine how humbled we were to be endorsed by 'Billy Bremner Jnr' who is a Golf Professional himself in Germany.
A lot of the Revie era legends played, who we bumped into on Saturday, and are excited about the proposal, as are current well known Professional golfers, ex players, celebrities, staff at Leeds United, Leeds fans who run well known businesses, local West Yorkshire Golf Courses, and last be not least, the life blood of our great club, the fans!
The internet revolution has
meant we can tentatively put the basic idea/ concept out to various
Leeds United Forums, on Twitter and Facebook.
The feedback has been nothing short of spectacular, and humbling
Golfers and fans of leeds can follow and like us here, where we have a team helping out, thank you all, you know who you are :)
The one thing this golf society isn't going to be, is a political entity.
Leeds United, in the form of Shaun Harvey and Paul Bell, Director of Commercial Affairs, have been nothing short of outstanding.
We met with Paul on Saturday I think everyone knows that January is a very busy time for this department, so for them to agree to a meeting at such short notice was going above and beyond the call of duty, and like everyone else, don't appear to find anything negative about the proposal.
We think its important to share with you on progress and developments, as so many are emailing, messaging us etc offering help and asking questions, so we have decided before any launch, to keep you informed via a blog, where we can share stories and experiences!
Meeting at Leeds United - Saturday 19th January 2013
We met with major LUFC Sponsors, legal folk, Paul Bell - Leeds United Commercial and others.
A very detailed Business proposal was handed out to all those at the meeting, with a powerpoint presentation.
Everyone at the meeting was very positive, some great ideas and brainstorming was had by all involved, and no negativity at all, which is becoming a common theme during this project.
Two and a half hours before kick off on matchday was never going to be the most ideal time to hold a meeting, no more apparent when we were joined by a couple of members of the Pigeon Detectives who have supported and endorsed the incentive, informing us 4 out of the 5 band members are keen golfers!
All in all a surreal day!
Massive thanks to Levi Solicitors, RIM Scaffolding, HESCO Bastion, Shaun Harvey, Paul Bell from Leeds United, Dave Cocker, Donna Waite, Paul Miller and Dominic Matteo, Daryl Hobson and Jackie Pedley.
We would also like to thank everyone for your support during this exciting set-up negotiation/ planning period.
We have agreed to meet on a more official basis on the 1st March 2013.
If you have any thoughts, idea, or suggestions please email us LUFCGolf@aol.com, tweet us @LUFCGolfers, or message on Facebook!
Well and truly ready to ''March down the fairways!''
Who knows which ones!
